Underground pump room layout and sections
Pump room layout with the pump and pipework arrangement, and sections showing reinforcement, blockwork, plaster and waterproofing.
Reinforcement · Steel · Detailing
A structural design lives in calculations, sketches and the engineer's head until someone draws it. Every bar, every member size and every connection has to end up on a drawing that the steel fixer, the fabricator and the site engineer can follow without asking questions. Small drafting errors in structural work are expensive: a missing lap, a wrong bar spacing or a beam drawn at the wrong level can mean breaking out concrete or refabricating steel.
We prepare structural drawings and reinforcement detailing in AutoCAD for structural consultants, contractors, steel fabricators and developers in Dubai. You can send us your engineer's design to draft and detail, or have our own engineers carry out and check the structural design as well. You receive editable DWG files and a PDF set, with every sheet referenced to the design and carrying a clear revision history.
Structural drawings carry legal and safety weight, so responsibility has to be clear from the start. We work in one of two ways, and the written scope records which:
Drafting to your engineer's design. Your structural engineer designs the structure and remains responsible for it. We draft and detail exactly what the design requires, raise queries where the information is incomplete or conflicting, and don't make engineering decisions on their behalf. The drawings carry the engineer's details and design references.
Design and drafting by our team. Our engineers carry out the structural design, prepare the calculations, and check the drawings before issue. The package can then go forward to the developer and the permit authority as part of an approval.
Either way, nothing on a structural drawing is guessed. If a bar size, a cover or a connection isn't defined, it goes on the query list until the responsible engineer confirms it.
Foundation plans showing isolated, combined and strip footings or raft foundations, pile layouts with pile caps and tie beams, sizes and levels, grid references and founding levels as designed. Sections through typical and special foundations show depths, blinding, waterproofing references and starter bars.
Setting-out plans for columns and shear walls with grid dimensions and member marks, column schedules showing sizes and reinforcement changes from level to level, and wall elevations with openings and reinforcement zones.
General arrangement plans for each floor showing beams, slabs, openings, drops and level changes, with member sizes and marks. Slab reinforcement drawings show top and bottom bars, extra bars at supports and openings, and spacing, using the engineer's chosen presentation, whether bar-by-bar or zone-based.
Detailed elevations and sections of beams, columns, walls, stairs and slabs showing bar marks, sizes, numbers, spacing, laps, anchorage lengths, cover and stirrup arrangements. Typical details for corners, junctions, openings and construction joints are collected on standard detail sheets so they are drawn once and referenced consistently.
Schedules listing each bar mark with its diameter, shape, dimensions, number and total length, tied to the bar marks on the detail drawings, so the steel can be cut and bent directly from the schedule.
General arrangement drawings for steel structures such as mezzanines, canopies, roof structures and platforms, with member sizes, grid and level references, bracing and openings. Connection details show plates, bolts, welds and stiffeners as designed by the engineer, along with base plate and anchor bolt layouts. For fabrication-level drawings, see our shop drawing services.
When we draft to an external engineer's design, these inputs let us work accurately:
If the architectural background is only available as PDF, we can convert it to CAD first, or draft it as part of architectural CAD drafting.
Structural detailing follows two sources: the engineer's design, and the code or standard named in the project specification. Lap lengths, anchorage, minimum cover, bar spacing and bending dimensions depend on both. We follow the requirements given to us and keep them consistent across every sheet, rather than applying our own preferences.
Good detailing also has to be buildable. While drafting, we look out for problems that the steel fixer would otherwise discover on site:
These go back to the engineer as queries, with a sketch where that helps.
Every structural set is checked by a second person against the design before it is issued. The checks focus on the errors that cause problems on site:
Where something cannot be confirmed from the design, it is listed for the engineer rather than resolved by the drafter.
Structural drawings are read on site, often on a printout folded in a pocket. We keep them readable:
Structural drawings change as the architecture develops, services openings are added and site conditions emerge. Each revision is handled the same way:
During construction, changes requested by the contractor or the site engineer are drafted only once the responsible engineer has approved them. At the end of the project, the final structural record can feed into as-built drawings.
Drafting for alterations and extensions to existing buildings starts with knowing what is already there. Where the original structural drawings are missing or the condition of the structure is uncertain, a structural evaluation is usually the first step. Once the assessment and the engineer's design for the new works are ready, we draft the strengthening, the new members and the connections to the existing structure.
The quotation lists the sheets and schedules included, the revision rounds covered and the issue date, and is agreed before drafting begins.

Both. Our engineers can carry out and check the structural design, or we draft and detail to your own engineer's design, with your engineer remaining responsible for it. The scope states which route applies.
Yes. Bar bending schedules are prepared from the reinforcement details, with bar marks, shapes, dimensions and quantities matching the drawings.
Yes, as designed by the engineer: plates, bolts, welds, stiffeners and base plates. Connection design stays with the responsible engineer.
Calculations or a design summary, marked-up drawings or sketches, material grades, cover requirements and the detailing standard to follow. A current architectural background in DWG is also helpful.
The code or standard named in the project specification and by the engineer. We apply its requirements for laps, anchorage, cover and spacing consistently across the set.
Yes, provided they define the members and reinforcement. Anything that isn't defined is raised as a query rather than assumed.
Yes. Steel fabrication drawings and other structural shop drawings are prepared for consultant review. See our shop drawing service.
With a structural evaluation of the existing building. Once the condition is known and the new works are designed, we draft the drawings for the alteration or extension.
Each change is clouded, recorded in the revision table and reflected in every affected sheet and schedule. Site changes are drafted once the responsible engineer approves them.
